Birdseed Ornament

We love to watch the birds anytime of the year. We have numerous bird feeders in our yard. Every year we decorate our big evergreen tree in the front yard. This year we made some birdseed ornaments to decorate it. Here is what you need:
1 package of unflavored gelatin
1/2 cup of hot water
3/4 cup of flour
3 Tablespoons of corn syrup
4 cups of birdseed
Molds (silicon or regular muffin tins work well)
Straws cut in half
string
In the microwave or stove heat the water. Dissolve the unflavored gelatin in the hot water. Add corn syrup and stir until dissolved. In a separate bowl pour flour into the birdseed and mix well. Pour the water/gelatin/corn syrup mixture into the birdseed/flour and stir well. It will start to get clumpy. Fill the molds with the sticky birdseed mixture and poke a hole through the middle with a chopstick. Then place a straw in the hole. Where the straw is will be where you can place a string through the ornament. Place the whole thing in the fridge to dry/set for at least overnight. Pop the completed ornament out of the molds and thread a string through the hole and hang on a tree branch! I used cupcake liners in my metal tins and they birdseed ornament came out easy. When I made this recipe I made 14 ornaments. We can’t wait to see the birds enjoy our ornaments!
